Mycelium Studies

Generative series born as NFTs and grown into immersive installations: reaction-diffusion simulations that echo the fungal networks underpinning life on the planet.

Mycelium Studies echoes the essential fungal networks that underpin the planet's sustainability. The series employs the reaction-diffusion model, the mathematics behind Turing patterns, to simulate diverse natural phenomena, from chemical reactions to the biological development of forms. It culminates in digital landscapes intertwined with organic elements: a poetic journey between the natural and the artificial.

Influenced by biomimetics, the research in generative visual computing draws from the intricate patterns and processes of the organic world. Art here is a bridge between the tangible and the intangible, and technology a medium that widens the horizons of human expression rather than a utilitarian tool.

Born as an NFT series, Mycelium Studies became an immersive installation at NFT Rio, Parque Lage, in June 2022, and in October 2022 anchored Here and Now, the first solo exhibition, at Senac Lapa Scipião in São Paulo. In 2025 it inspired Mycelium Flow, an interactive floor.
