Bob FX
A visual effect that draws a trick in the air, frame by frame, like a chronophotograph. It was born for Bob Burnquist's mega ramp performance at Conexidade in 2018 and reached its real-time version on the Parque Madureira half pipe, at the 2026 Imagina Festival.
At Conexidade, in December 2018, Bob Burnquist gave a mega ramp performance, a run of tricks. While it went on, Cubo, the residency's collective project, showed the footage with the effect: the skater's body repeated along the jump, each frame leaving its trace, as in the chronophotographs that break movement apart.
At that edition the effect was applied to recorded images. At the Imagina Festival, in May 2026, Bob FX finally reached its real-time version: running in TouchDesigner, projected at the end of the Parque Madureira half pipe while skaters rode it.
